Street art has crossed borders and oceans since it was born 20 years ago. It has become one of the main cultural identifiers of the last few decades. Every culture that has been touched by this movement has developed it with their own definitions and understandings.

Matzu is a Tokyo native who developed a passion for art at a very young age. His creative expressions have evolved into a unique and dynamic form of art, in which he has re-interpreted this graffiti movement and applies Japanese techniques and sensibility to his large-scale paintings. He draws from a traditional Japanese color palette applying the aesthetic of negative space mixing it with urban design. Together, these elements evoke a tension that is organic but still very sharp and modern.

Matzu has exhibited his work through solo shows in different galleries all over the United States, in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and internationally in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan.
