Lights Out ISPO Was A Knockout!

February 20, 2013

Thousands of miles from its original location in Devner, Co, 686 Lights Out presented by Electric debuted to the delight of industry insiders and professional snowboarders at ISPO in Munich, Germany last week.

The Warsteiner beer flowed freely as host Drew Stevenson kicked off the night with a voice only Drew can deliver. The packed venue was on its feet awaiting the initial ding-ding of the first bell of the eve. Contenders, professional snowboarders, shop employees and local heroes like Victor De Le Rue, Conny Bleicher, and Vanessa Andrieux, to name but a few, came out fighting under supervision from real boxing coaches and referees. They traded punch for punch for 3 rounds until a winner of each fight was crowned and adorned with their very own lights out belt. After the much awaited girls fight entitled “Bitches Brew” (which Vanessa won after a surprisingly fierce exchange of blows) the main event showdown between buff pro Victor De Le Rue and rather slack looking Bob Van Unnik took center stage. Bob was overheard foretelling, “When I win this, its gonna be the inter to my next year’s video part.” As hard as Victor tried to stop the opener for a snow movie part from going down, he could not stand the fury delivered by Bob, who excited crowd into a frenzy and and scored a clear win against the French ripper.

After the fights were over and the belts awarded, DJ Mike Rock and sounds provided by Skullcandy, kept the adrenaline-filled vibe going while the crowd filled the Fuck Cancer bucket with donations. Talk among spectators and industry heads was that this event should be here to stay.

Thanks to all the nights contenders and congratulations to the winners. Results are as follows: Bout 1 – Shop Wars: Munich’s Olympic Sports’ Viktor Vs. Marco (winner); Bout 2 – Clash of the Titans : Philip Vs Mazen (winner) from the German Rugby League; Bout 3 – Media Massacre : Xavier Mora (99 Sparrows) Vs. Drew Hayward (Onboard, winner); Bout 4 – Bitches Brew : Conny Bleicher (Lipstick prod. 686 team) Vs. Vanessa Andrieux (pro photog, winner); Bout 5 – Pros Not Bros : Victor De Le Rue (France) Vs. Bob Van Unnik (NE, 686 team rider, winner).

686 Lights Out was presented by Electric and Onboard and featured sounds provided by Skullcandy. Additional support was provided by Monster and Warsteiner and the night’s earnings went to Fuck Cancer. Big thanks to ISPO for all their help in bringing Lights Out to Munich! Stay tuned for next year, people are already laying claim to spots and ready to come out fighting…
